THE RULES FOR MOVIDA To ensure continuity and so we can make sure everyone gets a fair crack of the whip and all attending can enjoy the experience, we have the following conditions ground rules; Only 1 dj from each heat will go through to the city final. We will draw lots for order of play at each stage, you must be ready to perform when it is your turn, those delaying proceedings may be disqualified. • Dj’s we are looking for are; – Over 18 – Play House music (ALL FORMS) this is the format across the board for Movida. This is for continuity of the competition. – Our DJ’s must use conventional methods only i.e. CDJ/TURNTABLE/MIXER – Solo performances accepted only. – DJ’s with a big entourage. – YOU MUST BE Responsible and respectful toward equipment, fellow competitors and judges. • DJ’s who we don’t cater for are; – Urban or Turntablist. We had to go one way or the other, sorry people much love and respect. – Laptop DJing. Controversial territory, it’s impossible to judge. – Memory Sticks or Effects Units. No short cuts or presets, we want to see what YOU can do NOT the equipment. – No MC’s, NO Duo’s or Teams. This is about you the DJ. – Irresponsible types or jokers. This is a serious dj tournament. – Strictly - NO UNDER 18’S To protect all our competitors and staff any DJ can be disqualified at any stage in competition. The organisers’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. It is your responsibility to check entry requirements of each venue, as the management of every venue hosting Movida Corona reserve the right to refuse admission. SCORING A maximum of 20 points can be awarded for each area of skill, the dj with the most total points at the end wins MIXING - The transition from one record to another, points lost for mixes out of sync or poor volume control TECHNICAL - Points awarded for technical ability including use of effects or tricks CROWD REACTION - Points awarded for lifting the crowd or getting a visible reaction CHARISMA - How the DJ interacts with the audience through showmanship TRACK SELECTION - How well the DJ programmes the music
